The Outreach & Engagement Officer oversees the planning and implementation of outreach strategies, resources and events to increase the organisation’s visibility amongst medical students of black heritage.
Responsibilities & Duties
Serve as a point of contact for queries from medical students.
Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including educational events, networking events, outreach requests, appearances and other communication opportunities.
Support with event planning and delivery
Develop session material for outreach sessions and educational material for medical students
Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners.
Represent the organisation at external outreach requests focused on medical students
Coordinate monthly targeted newsletter to medical students
Advertising for and recruiting volunteers, providing them with training and support, tracking their performance, and keeping records of their activities.
Coordinate volunteers where required, receiving their feedback, recognizing their efforts, and answering their questions.
Must play an active role in engaging in Melanin Medics Projects, for the operational year
Eligibility Criteria
Unwavering commitment to racial equity in medicine
Relevant experience organising and leading projects
Outstanding written communication and presentation skills.
Friendly, enthusiastic and positive attitude.
Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator
Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation or charity role with exposure to the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage

Reports to the Director of Engagement
Part of the Programmes Team: outreach and engagement officers, events manager and officer
Location
Our work is focused in the United Kingdom. Our team work mainly remotely with in-person commitments for our seasonal events.
Expectation: 2-5 volunteer hours a week (varies based on roles and activities).
